Tiny Tots

Tiny Tots is a modified introductory athletics program designed for children aged 3-4 years.

Our 2026/27 Tiny Tots season runs from 29 October 2026 to 25 March 2027.

Sessions run for approximately 60 minutes and include a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities designed to keep children active and engaged while developing their Fundamental Movement Skills.

Through a supportive, play-based approach, Tiny Tots provides young children with a positive introduction to athletics and helps develop the movement skills that form the foundation for participation in athletics and many other sports.

Developing Fundamental Movement Skills

Tiny Tots focuses on developing three key areas of movement:

Locomotor Skills - Movement skills that help children move their bodies, including:

  • Running

  • Jumping

  • Hopping

  • Skipping

  • Leaping

Stability Skills - Skills that help children control and balance their bodies, including:

  • Balancing

  • Landing

  • Rotating

Manipulative Skills - Skills that involve controlling and handling objects, including:

  • Throwing

  • Catching

The Tiny Tots program uses a play-based approach that is engaging, enjoyable and stimulating for young children.

Activities are designed to support children's physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, while giving them positive first experiences in an athletics environment. By building confidence and fundamental skills from an early age, children can develop a positive relationship with sport and physical activity that can continue throughout their lives.

Working With Children Check

To comply with current government requirements, our club must ensure that the appropriate child safety checks are in place for all activities. As our weekly competition and carnival events are held across two jurisdictions, different legislation applies.

Weekly Meets (NSW)

Our weekly meets are conducted in New South Wales and are governed by NSW legislation. As children must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times, only coaches are required to hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).

ACT Carnivals

Our carnivals are held in the Australian Capital Territory and are subject to ACT legislation. Under these requirements, all parents, carers and volunteers who assist at carnivals must hold a valid Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.

If your child intends to compete at ACT carnivals this season, you must provide the Club Secretary with evidence of your current WWVP registration before attending. Unfortunately, children will not be permitted to participate in ACT carnivals until this requirement has been met.

We encourage all families to arrange their WWVP registration as early as possible to avoid any delays in participation.
